Hall of Fame - Part 4

Lots of sewing has been going on behind the scenes of Sewmiriam Workshops!

There has been some amazing work completed recently. Here are just a few examples for you to enjoy. I cannot tell you how thrilled and humbled I am to see your completed projects using Sewmiriam patterns.

The Quilt Express workshop was a wonderful experience to teach, but even more wonderful to see completed quilts. Sue B has been busy indeed and treated us all last weekend with a Show and Tell of her version of this quilt shown above.  WOW!!!!! Sue B is a talented quilter indeed. I love the colour and fabric choices she has used to make this one of a kind quilt. The back is equally as stunning....

How lovely to make a quilt using quilt as you go , so that once your done - your quilt is done! Fully reversible too which is a nice bonus .

Marg K has been busy completing her tote bag. Clever fabric choices and sewing has resulted in this lovely bag.

The professional fully lined zip pocket done so well by Marg in class is a winner! Here is a sneak peak inside ..

Spied on Instagram - Cardygirl has made another Sewmiriam Ziptop bag. This one is gorgeous too..

Trisha is still working on her bag from last weekend's workshop,
but her front panel is so wonderful I just had to share it here with you ...

Well, that's a wrap for this week.

Sewmiriam Quilt Express Workshop

I love a great workshop! Today was just that. Not only was there spring warmth in the air, but there was a buzz in the workroom, as blocks were being created for table runners, and fabulous quilts. Techniques today included piecing, quilting and backing in one step, and a variety of sashing options.  Quilt Express indeed!

Learning a new skill is always a challenge, but once mastered the possibilities are endless. We are so lucky to have found an activity that encourages us to build on our skills and break the boundaries, whether we are traditional, modern or avant- garde.

Helen started a quilt using nautically inspired prints. The play between graphic and novelty prints, spots and stripes is wonderful.

Sue has started a beautiful quilt, with grays, muted shades and pops of colour. The effect is stunning.

Margaret worked her magic with beautiful Japanese indigo inspired fabrics,

Nancy is working on a bright quilt which is fresh and delightful.

Sandy was well prepared with strips ready for piecing

Sandy's Christmas table runner blocks are gorgeous. She is on a roll!

Dee is making a table runner full of whimsy and French charm

I am sorry Leonie and Judy , but I do not have clear photos of your blocks. They are splendid. Judy is taking a graphic bicycle tree pattern in shades of red, blue and mustard and creating a visually dynamic quilt. Leonie has chosen tropical prints and is creating a  " vogue style" quilt.

Thank you ladies for a wonderful, inspiring workshop. It is always a pleasure to have your company and share a love of quilting with you.

Quilt Express Workshop

Wouldn't it be fabulous to have the luxury of unlimited time? I would love to have unlimited time to read, create, relax, hand stitch and enjoy sewing with friends. In the real world of course this is not always possible. Like octopus tentacles  we have life demands pulling us in many directions all at the same time.

One solution? Simply put  - make the best use of the time we do have. I look at my fabrics , and dream of making all sorts of quilts, bags, clothes .....the list goes on. I want to use my fabrics, but I must be honest with myself. What can I realistically achieve?

With those thoughts in mind, I have been playing around with quilt as you go ideas Sewmiriam style!
I have collapsed quilt making into as few elements as possible to create a table runner ...

and a quilt.....

Here they are hanging out together at Cottage Quiltworks

Come and join me for a Sewmiriam Quilt Express Workshop  at Cottage Quiltworks on Saturday, 22nd August.  Learn the techniques, and start your own design for a tablerunner or quilt. Once you start, it is hard to stop! I could have called it " Build a Quilt" but I kept on thinking of the Build a Bear party workshops that little girls love to go to for birthday parties!! Grrrrr.

If you want to learn to make your own quilts from start to finish, using your domestic sewing machine, this could be the workshop you are looking for. Can you sew in a straight line ? Then you are half way there already!

Meanwhile, with the chilly evenings here in Sydney, my daughter Hannah has nabbed the quilt for her bed.

I hope this blogpost finds you well, and feeling creative. Thank you for stopping by. It is always humbling to have you take the time to visit.
